Why Syrup Is Transported Using Flexitanks
Date:2025.12.18 Number:LET-NEW-219
In the global food ingredient supply chain, syrups such as glucose syrup, fructose syrup, and malt syrup are widely traded in bulk. Due to their high viscosity,
large shipment volumes, and strict hygiene requirements, selecting the right transportation method is critical. In recent years, container flexitanks have become
one of the most efficient and reliable solutions for international syrup transportation.

Syrup is classified as a non-hazardous food-grade liquid and can be transported at ambient temperature, making it well suited for flexitank systems.
Installed inside standard dry containers, flexitanks are manufactured from multi-layer food-grade polyethylene films with a reinforced outer layer,
providing strong protection against external contamination and fully complying with international food-contact regulations such as FDA and EU standards.
As a single-use packaging solution, flexitanks eliminate the risk of cross-contamination, residual odors, or microbial growth that may occur with reusable
tanks or containers. This is especially important for syrup, which is sensitive to hygiene conditions and product purity.

From a logistics perspective, flexitanks significantly improve container utilization. A single container can carry up to 24,000–26,000 liters of syrup,
far exceeding the capacity of drums or IBCs. This higher payload reduces transportation costs per ton and simplifies handling, loading, and unloading operations.
For syrups with higher viscosity or sensitivity to low temperatures, flexitank systems can be combined with heating pads, insulation liners, and customized discharge
valves to ensure smooth unloading and consistent product quality.

Overall, flexitanks offer a safe, hygienic, and cost-effective solution for bulk syrup transportation, making them a preferred choice for food manufacturers and traders worldwide.
